Pets come in all shapes and sizes. Personal preference to appearance, along with slight changes in armor, health, and damage are the key factors in selecting a pet. Pets listed in this section are presented with a listing of skills they can teach to the hunter after the tamed.

  • Bat
A valuable pet for their ability to learn skills such as Dive and Screech. Having decent damage output is also a plus, however the annoying wing flapping noise they make can take some getting used to.

    Skills Available: Bite, Dive, Screech
    DPS: +7% AR: +0% HP: +0%
    Feed: fruit and fungus
  • Bear
With high health and the ability to eat just about anything, bears make a decent pet for PVE. The main drawbacks of the bear is no ability to intercept the target and their reduced DPS percentage. The increased HP and AR somewhat make up for this.

    Skills Available: Bite, Claw
    DPS: -9% AR: +5% HP: +8%
Feed: Bread, Cheese, Fish, Fruit, Fungus, Meat
  • Boar
Easy to feed coupled with, speed boost, interrupt, and an endless instant attack (if specced right)...what more could you want? One of the most popular pets for PVP, specifically at lower levels.

Skills Available: Bite, Charge, Dash, Gore
    DPS: -10% AR: +9% HP: +4%
Feed: Bread, Cheese, Fish, Fruit, Fungus, Meat
  • Carrion Bird
Ugly, scary, if only undead could role a hunter this would be a perfect compliment. Otherwise there are not many redeeming qualities to this pet. They have slightly more armor than Owls and Bats. The DPS percentage of the other pet families would probably be of more value.

Skills Available: Bite, Claw, Dive, Screech
    DPS: 0% AR: +5% HP: 0%
    Feed: Fish, Meat
  • Cat
High DPS ftw in addition to stealthy prowl!

Skills Available: Bite, Claw, Dash, Prowl
    DPS: 10% AR: +0% HP: -2%
    Feed: Fish, Meat
  • Crab
Yes...it is a crab. High armor and eats a variety of foods but with only Claw available, it makes for a rather useless pet. Pass this one by unless you need it for RP purposes.

    Skills Available: Claw
    DPS: -5% AR: +13% HP: -4%
    Feed: Bread, Fish, Fruit, Fungus
  • Crocolisk
A bit more unique than crabs, but not much more useful. Only one trainable active skill again limits the potential of this pet.

    Skills Available: Bite
    DPS: 0% AR: +10% HP: -5%
    Feed: Fish, Meat
  • Dragonhawk
Dragonhawks have a very unique look, and are a nicely balanced pet to have. Just stay away from the lower class Dragonhawks that you can tame as their stats are sub-par because they are Caster Pets. Able to eat almost anything and the nice addition of Fire Breath are also added bonuses.

Skills Available: Bite, Dive, Fire Breath
    DPS: 0% AR: 0% HP: 0%
Feed: Meat, Fish, Fruit, Raw Meat, Raw Fish
  • Gorilla
Have decent health and the Thunderstomp ability. This AOE affect helps to keep multiple mobs focused on your pet, and can be invaluable in PVE applications.

    Skills Available: Bite, Thunderstomp
    DPS: +2% AR: 0% HP: +4%
    Feed: Fruit, Fungus
  • Hyena
Hyenas are a pet that I personally do not see a lot of on my server. They seem to have some well rounded stats, but generally when you are looking for a pet you want it to excel in one area or another.

    Skills Available: Bite, Dash
    DPS: 0% AR: +5% HP: 0%
    Feed: Fruit, Meat
  • Nether Ray
Big health, different look! Can definitely have potential in some situations, but please stay clear of the Caster stats.

    Skills Available: Bite, Dive
    DPS: 3% AR: -10% HP: +10%
    Feed: Meat, Raw Meat
  • Owl
Owls are a popular pet with both decent damage output and a useful AOE taunt in the Screech skill.

    Skills Available: Claw, Dive, Screech
    DPS: +7% AR: 0% HP: 0%
    Feed: Meat
  • Raptor
Raptors have some very nice damage output, have a good look to them, and can easily intercept your target with the Dash skill.

    Skills Available: Bite, Claw, Dash
    DPS: +10% AR: 3% HP: -5%
    Feed: Meat
  • Ravager
Ravagers are one of my favorite pets for the sheer damage that they can dish out. A good DPS bonus in addition to Bite and Gore abilities makes this a strong DPS pet for any hunter. However, they are not exactly the most cuddly pet to have in your stable. :)

    Skills Available: Bite, Dash, Gore
    DPS: +10% AR: 5% HP: -7%
    Feed: Meat, Raw Meat
  • Scorpid
Scorpids are one of the most widely used pets in the Arena because of Scorpid Poison. This DoT helps prevent dispelling classes from removing your other stings, which is quite invaluable in an Arena match and stacks as well. The more they try to remove the DoT the more mana they use up, and if they do not remove the DoT you are doing steady damage the entire time.

    Skills Available: Claw, Scorpid Poison
    DPS: -6% AR: 10% HP: 0%
    Feed: Meat
  • Serpent
Serpents are a very cool looking pet, but that is about the only redeeming quality. Their stats are uneventful as they excel at nothing and they have no intercept ability. They do have a DoT, Poison Spit, but this does not stack so is not as useful as Scorpid Poison.

    Skills Available: Bite, Poison Spit
    DPS: 0% AR: 0% HP: 0%
Feed: Fish, Meat, Raw Fish, Raw Meat
  • Spider
Spiders have some decent damage output, but that is really all they have going for them. Essentially they end up being a fairly nice looking pet, with too many limits to make them a valid choice for a hunter. At some point, hopefully Blizzard will address the limits of the Spider family.

    Skills Available: Bite
    DPS: 7% AR: 0% HP: 0%
    Feed: Meat
  • Sporebat
Yes the MIGHTY Sporebat! Could this be the most USELESS pet ever? I don't know, but I won't fluff this section up by trying to make you feel warm and fuzzy if you chose a Sporebat. If this is your pet, get rid of it. If you are thinking about using this pet...do not. Perhaps as a roleplaying type pet, but otherwise the Sporebat is one of if not THE most worthless pets you can have by your side in a fight.

    Skills Available: Pfft..what skills?
    DPS: 0% AR: 0% HP: 0%
    Feed: Cheese, Bread, Fungus, Fruit
  • Tallstrider
Tallstriders have a boost to health, and can pick up Dash and Bite. An all around average pet, but still a valid choice for hunters.

    Skills Available: Bite, Dash
    DPS: 0% AR: 0% HP: 5%
    Feed: Cheese, Fruit, Fungus
  • Turtle
Turtles are hands down the pet with the most defense. With a armor boost of 13% coupled with Shell Shield, they are able to take a beating. However, with no intercept ability, -10% to damage and the lack of a real focus sink they really end up being more of a situational type pet. Still, they can be fun and Shell Shield can absorb a lot of damage.

    Skills Available: Bite, Shell Shield
    DPS: -10% AR: 13% HP: 0%
    Feed: Fish, Fruit, Fungus
  • Warp Stalker
Have a few things going for them. They can learn two attacks, plus they are the only pet that has the Warp ability. Very nice for closing distance fast. A very different type of pet, and worth checking out.

    Skills Available: Bite, Shell Shield
    DPS: -6% AR: 5% HP: 0%
    Feed: Fish, Fruit, Raw Fish
  • Wind Serpent
Wind Serpents are one of my favorite for the look, and the ranged attack. The addition of Dive and a nice DPS increase make this a fun pet to have at your side.

Skills Available: Bite, Dive, Lightning Breath
    DPS: 7% AR: 0% HP: 0%
    Feed: Bread, Cheese, Fish
  • Wolf
Wolves!!! What is not to love? Wolves make a nice group/PVE pet because of Furious Howl. They have a nice look, and most if not all Hunters have had a wolf pet at one time or another.

Skills Available: Bite, Dash, Furious Howl
    DPS: 0% AR: 5% HP: 0%
    Feed: Meat
